My boss, another co-worker and I just snuck out to catch "Cloverfield", JJ Abrams new movie.  I liked it, but because it was shot in 1st person, i got pretty queasy.  The 1st person perspective puts you right in the middle of the action.  Overall, i give it a thumbs up.

RIP Evel Knievel

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/more/11/30/kneviel.ap/index.html?cnn=yes

my brother and i used to imitate this guy on our bikes all the time.  we used to set up ramps in our driveway and jump over stuff in our dirt bikes while we were growing up.  we sustained numerous bumps, scrapes, scratches, and gashes all because of this guy.

RIP

long time, no update.

For giggles and grins, i'll post something.

had a pretty good weekend.  Went out to North Hollywood Scooters on saturday afternoon with Poe.  Picked up a legshield mirror for my Lambretta, so that i could run legally.  For those of you who dont know what my scooter looks like, here she is:

1961 Lambretta Li 150 (series 2)

Saturday night, we went down to Silverlake to check out the Sunset Junction street fair.  The crowd was pretty eclectic, full of hipsters, families, old school punks, and those that supported the alternative lifestyle.  We ran into some friends, ate some pretty good food, and took in a beautiful LA evening.  There was some pretty good music to be heard as well.  We grooved a little bit to Aurelito and Shakespeare's music.  They drive around LA in their Dub Reggae Ice cream truck, spinning grooves and spreading the good humor.  We caught a little bit of Red Kross's old school punk set when we arrived.  made a relatively old school guy like me smile.  The Eels played a more rockish set than i am used to.  I have their "Daisies of the Galaxy" CD, which is pretty mellow.  Black Rebel Motorcycle club were pretty good.  Be' was pretty impressed with their sound as well.  They didnt play too much off of their newer album, which is good.

Sunday, we went to the Hollywood bowl to watch KCRW's World Electronica festival.  On the list were Herbert, Zero 7, and the Gotan Project.  I wasnt too impressed with Herbert, who came out wearing an orange bath robe.  Zero 7 (featuring Jose Gonzales) was really good.  Sia has a really nice voice, but was a bit wacky.  Midway through the set she walks behind a table to pour herself a tall drink (while on camera).  I guess that she needed something to take a little bit off of the edge.  Gotan Project sounded pretty good as well, with their blend of Tango/Dub/electronica.  Their unique sound is highlighted by an accordian, which is in most of their songs.  I've heard their amazing cover of New Order's "Blue Monday", but sadly, they didnt play it.
